I’m happy to announce that Yale University has acquired 6 pieces of my artwork to add to their permanent collection. It’s of great joy to me that a good portion of my “Joy of Living” series will be permanently installed in the Yale University School of Management‘s Evans Hall.

Here are the 6 works which have been acquired:

• Dancing Queen in Little Accra,
• All Lit Up,
• Breaking Bread,
• Free Spirit,
• A Spring in My Step, and
• Readers are Leaders.

The acquisitions were made possible by a generous anonymous donor. The acquisition committee stewarding the fund states:

The Artsy Fund enables us to invest in distinctive art representation that reflects our community: diverse, global, and vibrant.

Background to the Acquisitions

The stated goal of the Art Acquisition Committee is:

To broaden representation and encourage art-inspired learning and introduction to a broader spectrum of lived experience.

Furthermore, the statement goes on to say:

The art will change the experience of our walls, “peopling” them with faces reflective of our students, faculty, and community. In essence, we hope the art helps us to further create an environment where people see others and feel seen.

Accordingly, five of the acquired artworks have already been beautifully framed and installed in Evans Hall for an exhibition. Later, the exhibition will open with a public reception and an artist talk. Meanwhile, the sixth piece of work is currently on a 3-year national tour in a SAQA Global Exhibition. At the end of the tour it too will be installed at Yale University School of Management.

Personal Emotions

Certainly, I’m thrilled by all of this. I simply can’t tell you how happy I am to be included in the permanent collection of this prestigious institution of learning – Yale University. In the upcoming weeks, I’ll share more information about this major announcement with you. I would love for you to come join me in celebrating at the opening reception.
