This past Friday evening, I had a wonderful experience attending the opening of Beyond Face Value at Art Cake in Brooklyn, curated by the talented Lesley Heller. The energy in the gallery was magnetic. There was a wonderful mix of art lovers, fellow artists, and supporters from all walks of life who came to celebrate the work on display.

I arrived at Art Cake a little early and it was quiet. However, it was immediately clear a few minutes later that it would be a special night. People started streaming in steadily. And within 30 minutes or so, the gallery was absolutely packed! At one point, I couldn’t even see the floor—just a sea of people absorbed in the artwork, chatting animatedly, and filling every corner of the space.

The turnout was a testament to the love and support for each artist in the show, and the amazing curator Lesley Heller. Furthermore, the beautiful weather that night seemed to encourage everyone to come out and share this moment with us.

It’s always a privilege to witness the curiosity and engagement that people bring to these events—questions, reflections, and even moments of quiet admiration.

If you missed the opening, there’s still a chance to experience Beyond Face Value with the exhibiting artists. We’ll be hosting an artist panel discussion on November 17, from 3-5 pm, where you’ll be able to hear directly from the artists and dive deeper into the ideas behind our work. Mark your calendar, and I hope to see you there for another special day celebrating art, dialogue, and community.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support Beyond Face Value. Thank you to Lesley Heller for curating such a dynamic show. And to Art Cake for hosting this unforgettable opening of Beyond Face Value.
